The history of Centenario rum dates back to 1985 when the premium rum brand was founded in Costa Rica, with the goal of preserving traditional rum-making methods while emphasizing quality. The Gran Reserva is crafted using the traditional Solera aging process, which ensures a rich and smooth flavor profile. After aging, the rum rests in various oak barrels, allowing a blend of rums aged for 6 to 12 years to develop a complex character. Its aroma is sweet and rich, with notes of toasted sugarcane and vanilla, along with woody, slightly spicy, and fruity hints like dried plum and banana. The taste is dominated by caramel and vanilla, complemented by roasted spicy tones, cinnamon, clove, and a touch of pepper. The rum finishes with smooth, oaky, and woody notes, along with subtle hints of chocolate and coffee, providing a rich and lasting experience with every sip.
